It is the first private marina and is fully organized with high standard facilities and services. The Venetian shipyard was built by the Venetians during their rule in Corfu, at the current location of the current settlement of Gouvia. The Venetians used the bay as their harbor and arsenal.The ruins are behind the modern Marina at Gouvia and are separated by fencing.
