Gouvia Corfu

A modern, small and comprehensive area we could say is Gouvia, a village a short distance from the city of Corfu, equipped to satisfy the needs of every visitor. It extends mainly along a coastal road, in a large bay and is one of the most developed tourist resorts of the island, particularly popular with the young public.

Gouvia Marina / Venetian shipyard

It is the largest marina on the island, always full of boats of all sizes from many nations. It is the first private marina and is fully organized with high standard facilities and services. The Venetian shipyard was built by the Venetians during their rule in Corfu, at the current location of the current settlement of Gouvia. The Venetians used the bay as their harbor and arsenal. The ruins are behind the modern Marina at Gouvia and are separated by fencing. The columns, walls and characteristic arches of the armory have survived which, combined with the location by the sea, make up a surreal setting especially recommended for photography enthusiasts.
